Nursing is an honorable calling

ImagenA humanist vocation by nature is that of the nurses who daily give their best to their patients. As part of their work, they spend sleepless nights attentive to patients, monitoring their vital signs, evaluating them, giving them the medication prescribed by the physician, among other functions they do in hospitals.

It is a profession you have to love to exercise it; it requires a lot of sacrifice and dedication. They also work in family doctors’ offices, polyclinics, schools, workplaces, homes, prisons, among others.

Today is the International Day of Nursing, which was declared as a way to honor the birth of Florence Nightingale in 1820 , considered the mother of modern nursing and founder of the first nursing school in the world.

Today we honor those who daily care and assist the sick people, and most especially to those who are giving their bit in other lands of the world, announcing that Cuban medicine is humanist par excellence.

All nurses receive a message of congratulations.

Nursing is a higher calling, an honorable calling … The honor lies in the love for perfection, consistency and the hard work to get it…

Florence Nightingale (1873)
